Changes

This term is all about CHANGES…

The Ugly Duckling

The children were very interested to know what the strange box on the side could be…after lots of guessing they discovered it was an incubator. After 21 days if we are very lucky the eggs should hatch and there will be three little chicks cheeping away.

Children using their hands to paint the beautiful swan after its transformation from an ugly duckling.

Here the children were using their fine motor skills to create a picture of a duckling sitting on a pond.

Children were set an ugly duckling challenge, to walk the balance trail with an egg and spoon, they did really well!

Enjoying playing ‘The Ugly Duckling’ mathematics game which the children are now playing at home with their parents.

Babies

We had an interesting week where we learnt what babies need and got to enjoy caring for ‘babies’ in our new role play area, a baby clinic. This week finished with an extra special mother’s day learning event with the parents. The children really enjoyed making cards, bookmarks and writing medals for the mummies, a few tears were shed when they were read out.

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY

 The Hungry Caterpillar

In the corner of the classroom are five small and hairy black caterpillars growing inside a small container. However, it was discovered on Wednesday that the pot was missing and the children searched and searched but couldn’t find it anywhere. So the children decided to set up traps all around the room to try and catch the caterpillars, they also made telescopes and binoculars to see it they could see them anywhere.

Five caterpillars happily munching on their food and growing, growing, growing…

Oh dear, the children came in to school this morning to find that the caterpillars had escaped. They created binoculars to hunt for them and some of the children even made traps to catch the caterpillars. Luckily, later in the day they were discovered safe and sound one of the other teachers had borrowed them to show their class.

Frogs

This week was very exciting, learning all about a frog’s life cycle, how they turn from frogspawn into tadpoles and eventually frogs. We even have some frogspawn in the classroom and this week we got our first few tadpoles.

The children used sparkly green play dough to make their own frogs to go in the habitat the other children created, wow they are fantastic!

Children created their own habitat for the frogs, using lots of natural resources. They even reused bubble wrap as the frog spawn.

Here the children are playing froggy leap frog, they have to bounce the bean bag frog on to a lily pad to score points.

What a really brilliant term, we hope everyone has a relaxing Easter Holidays. See you in the Summer Term.
