Plants

Week 1

Jack and the Beanstalk

To start our plants topic, children spent lots of time this week planting and potting plants and seeds. We were very lucky with lots of plants, pots and materials been donated by Hollybush Garden Centre

Children planted runner bean seeds in our new investigation area, so they they could watch them grow and discover what all the different parts of a plant are called.

A striking new role play area was unveiled this week, a garden centre where the children could plant seeds, use garden tools and purchase different garden products.

Children used tissue paper to create lovely flowers of all different colours.

They used watering cans and containers to investigation capacity, we even added food colouring to the water to make it easier to see when using the scale on the containers.

Children used ICT to draw beanstalks.

Week 2

Fran’s Flower

Children used their creativity this week to make clay flower tiles, using different clay tools and with lots of help from kind parents who came in.

Children enjoying using the garden tools in the role play area and developing their narratives.

Look at these lovely multilink flowers, children used different colours to design and make flowers.

Children used ICT software to draw different flowers and plants on the computers.

Children drew observations drawings of a plant and then painted to add extra detail.
