Team Oak had great fun learning and performing our oral poem ‘The Village Blacksmith’ by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. We learnt about the honest work of a local blacksmith and caught a glimpse of what life was like during the Victorian era which we are looking forward to discovering more about next term. We would love you to have a listen and let us know what you think of our performance.

Well done team Oak I know how hard you worked for that achievment and to learn that long poem in such a short time even though it was only 4 verses but nevertheless it was a very hard poem which included hard vocabulary.
That ancient poem looks phenomenal! Even though I struggle to read it. Imagine an early Victorian poem being said out loud 172 years later! That’s 17 decades!!!!! I wonder how much a 172 year old poem would be if it was for sale? I wonder……..
Team Oak worked their socks off at learning the Village Blacksmith. We almost practiced it at least twice a day. At first most people were mumbling because they dident know the words at all but gragualy we got better and better untill we had it our best.
