Team Wilverley’s new pet, Bob the snail, has settled in nicely! Pupils have been learning about giant land snails to ensure that they can look after Bob properly and understand the way he behaves.

Hi everybody! I’m Bob and I am the famous Wilverley Giant african Land Snail! I am going to tell you about some of the best facts about ME!:
* Firslty, my Latin name is:Achatina Fulica.
* Secondly, I love to eat fruit and veg including:Cucumber,lettuce,peppers,greenbeans,tomatoes and sweetcorn and CERTIANLY NO PASTA due to the fact it can swell my internal organs and may even kill me! My favourite treats are not what not what everyone thinks.( As in Brown bread and even cat biscuits!)
* Giant African Land Snails,me, are known to eat up to 500 different plant species!
* Surprinsingly, we do not have an official gender because we have both sex organs of each gender but we still need two snails to reproduce (make babies).
*:Lastly, I am OLD! I can live up to 5-6 years or 10 years!

Housing snails can eat Lettuce,cucumber, apples, bananas.Eggs should be removeb from the adults. Snails are hermaphrodites which means that they have both males and females sex organs.The eggs will hatch after 14 days.Water the soil not soggy. Leaf litter or moss to keep the soil damp.
Their fav food is:lettuce,cabbage,carrot, cauliflower,sweetcorn, melon, plums plum tomato and banana.

How do snails get their shells?
Snails dont have a backbone! I wonder why they eat with their foot. They don’t llike the cold . Did you know it is illegal to keep Giant African Land Snails in America!?
